First Swim - May 2010

The first time we took Colton swimming we were with Uncle Jay & Aunt Shannon at their neighborhood pool. It was a bit cold still but he had a great time. He really didn't use that float for very long that summer because he likes to pull himself up and it wasn't more of a pain than a good idea for him.

Not wanting to wear his sunglasses but he sure enjoyed holding onto them.

Mother's Day 2010

My first Mother's Day as a Mommy! It was a wonderful day. We got up and went to church and then enjoyed a nice relaxing day hanging out at the house. We played and spent time with each other exactly what I wanted!! Colton painted me a plate with his hand prints on it. Such a special plate that I will bring out every year for Mother's Day!

First Tooth!!

After we took our bluebonnet pictures I was feeding Colton his lunch and I noticed that his gum was bleeding. Sure enough there was a little line where his tooth was starting to push through. As soon as his skin started to break it was as if a switch went off inside him and the pain began! That night and for the next few days we had a very difficult time making sure he was comfortable and putting him down for a nap or for the night. The same problems were happening at daycare as well. He was very fussy and wanted to be held constantly. We used tylenol, baby orajel and some teething tablets. Once that tooth popped through he was a different kid! I sure do miss his gum smile but his tooth is pretty cute!

Bluebonnets

It's that time of the year to take the infamous Texas bluebonnet pictures! Katy is surrounded by rice fields and bluebonnets don't really grow in them, so we took a drive North and headed toward College Station and Brenham. We ended up in Brenham and found a beautiful field of bluebonnets and other wildflowers. When we pulled up we were the only ones there and by the time we left there were about 7 other car loads that had pulled up. I guess we found a pretty good field!

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and very sunny. Colton was a champ. He did great sitting but was very curious as to what all of the pretty colors moving in the wind were. He immediately went grabbing for flowers! And of course he decided he wanted to put them in his mouth! Cody was snapping pictures and I was trying to get him to look at the camera and get the flowers out of his mouth.

What's in your hand?
A bluebonnet! How does that taste buddy?
Thanks Mom for getting that out of my mouth. Now, this one over here looks pretty tasty!

Easter

We celebrated Easter on Saturday with friends and family. We drove in from Katy and other family came in from San Antonio and Portland. We enjoyed a fish fry with lots of sides and snack foods. We had an Easter egg hunt and split it up between the front and back yards and separtated the big and little kiddos. Colton was napping and woke up just in time for the egg hunt! It was a beautiful day and a wonderful time spent clebrating Easter with family and friends.

Time to Play in the Sand with my Cousins!

For Easter we went to Rockport this year. It was so much fun being with lots of family and friends! On Good Friday the girls took the kids to the beach while the boys went fishing. This was Colton's first time to play in the sand. The first time we took him to see the beach was in October and he was so little and it was very cold and windy. We just took him so we could say that he was at the beach. This time he was in his swimsuit and played with his cousins.

At first he wasn't so sure of the sand but he ended up enjoying it and had a great time. He even took about a 45 minute nap out there. He did great and enjoyed being out there.
