It's Opening Weekend for Deer Season and Cody leaves on Thursday night and will come back home on Sunday. It was my first time to be with just Colton overnight by ourselves. I was a little nervous mainly about getting up in the morning and getting us both off to school on time! Other than that I knew we would be fine.
Friday morning we both made it to school on time. Friday night Colton started to cough a little, nothing real bad but something he didn't normally do. He was a little congested so I talked to Cody at the deer lease and tried to suck his nose with the blue bulb thing the hospital gave us. I tried to suck his nose and got what I could. He went to sleep and everything seemed fine.
Around 2:30 he woke up very congested and having a very hard time breathing. I tried to suck his nose again and didn't really get much. I didn't really know how to use it properly. To help him breathe I kept him on my chest all night. I put pillows around me and I held him the whole night and he slept on my chest while I was sitting up. The next morning talked to Cody and we learned about an electric nose sucker. It works so well!! Uncle Jay and Aunt Shannon went and bought the nose sucker for me and brought it to me and hung out with us for a while. He slept most of the weekend and needed lots of love and attention and that is what he got.
The next week he seemed ok, he never ran a fever and just had a little stuffy nose. We bought 'Little Noses' to help with his nose and it really helped us when we needed to use the sucker. Well, that next Friday evening it seemed he had gotten worse than he had been. That next morning we called Dr. Kisch, Colton's pediatrician and she wanted to see him. We met her at her office Saturday morning. His lungs wer clear which was a good thing. She tested him for RSV, which came back positive. She said that there isn't much we can do unless he runs a fever we would give him Tylenol, if he started weezing then he would have nebulizer, but we do need to have him sleep sitting up not laying down. We moved his swing in our room and he sleeps in his swing.
Over Thanksgiving he had gotten better. He didn't go to daycare for 9 days and we think that really helped him. Once he went back to daycare about mid week he started getting congested again, we aren't sure if it was because he was back at school or because the weather got much colder.
As of now, December 13th we have had no fever and no weezing! He is still congested, has a cough and sleeping in his swing. Most of the time he is in a very good mood and you can't tell that he doesn't feel well. He still smiles and laughs which is such a great thing!
And of course, the first time little man gets sick Cody is out of town hunting 5 1/2 hours away from home without his truck at the lease. :)
